Timeline Question

Hey all, I'm trying to get a handle on just how old the kids were when the Academy went public. Five disappeared on their 13th birthday, so it was obviously before that, but how long before that. The bank scene is with the teenage actors, but they all act pretty young. Based on the various magazine images in the library, they had time to do an opp in Paris and sit for a bunch of interviews. How long were they a team before Five disappeared? And, as a side note, how do you think the public reacted to his disappearance and whatever story Hargreeves fed the public?
